Many operational system, notably industrial and logistics are based on a set of elements (processes, resources, etc.) that must be organized in space and/or time while respecting some constraints. There is generally an associated cost that is associated to each possible organization. Typically, this cost should be minimized. In this field, CETIC has the know-how to select the most adequate optimization tools, and to use them. CETIC also actively develops an optimization engine that is part of the OscaR open source framework. The engine developed at CETIC implements local search. This technique is able to find satisfying solution to very large optimization problems within a reasonable time frame. The optimization engine developed by CETIC is meant to facilitate the use and maintainability of local search solvers.
