Pierre De Handschutter is a Civil Engineer in Computer Science and Management (2019) and PhD. in Applied Mathematics (2023) from the Polytechnic Faculty of the University of Mons (UMONS). He was an FNRS fellow from October 2019 to August 2022. From August 2022 to August 2023, he was also a mathematics teacher in upper secondary education at the Institut Saint-André in Ramegnies-Chin.
His PhD thesis, defended in August 2023, focused on the development of deep matrix factorization (deep NMF) models, algorithms and applications and resulted in the publication of 2 conference articles and 3 journal articles.
Since October 2023, Pierre has worked as a researcher in the “Data Science” department of CETIC. His research themes focus on the application of AI techniques to industry, including prescriptive maintenance/analysis and hyperspectral image analysis.
At the same time, Pierre has been teaching the “Probability and Statistics” course (4 ECTS) to BA2 Civil Engineering students at the Polytechnic Faculty of Mons, in Q2, since the 2023-2024 academic year.
